About Me

My Photo
Michelle Azar
I'm a Christian, a wife, a daughter, a sister, a friend, and an unemployed teacher taking advantage of this extended vacation by improving my cooking, photography, and crafting skills (and blogs). My wonderful husband, Mario, says things like, "Don't forget to pack your knicks and knacks," and, "What are Q-tips called?" Some of my favorite things to do (other than cooking, photography, and crafting) are reading and watching John Cena movies! I hope you enjoy my blogs and thanks for stopping by!

Recent Cards

I have 3 fun projects to share with you today, all of which are cards I made for special occasions: 2 birthdays and a baby! I've got way more time on my hands nowadays so I've been making cards like crazy. Do I always remember to photograph them? NO! Oops! At any rate, enjoy and I hope you're inspired!

Card for B.O.B (Baby of 'B' - their last name)
They don't know the gender yet so I tried to make the card as gender neutral as possible. She loves ladybugs so if it's a girl she'll decorate with those, but when she saw the turtles she said, "If it's a boy I'm using turtles in his room!" Is it a sign? I don't know! I added glitter to the turtle shells to just give it that little something extra.
I kept the inside simple by framing the writing space in blue glitter. I felt like the stripes on the front were busy enough and didn't want to overload the inside.
I carried the turtles onto the backside where I always sign my cards, and I added the glitter on to these two turtles as well.
August 31st Birthdays!
Today, my dad turns 50! He's still so young! My mom just turned 47 this year and I'll only be 28 next month! I love having younger parents! We've always had a really close relationship, so I'm glad I still have lots of time to enjoy my parents!

I used a free image of a Harley Davidson license plate from the internet that I printed out on photo paper. My dad owns and loves to ride his Harley so it's only fitting that he get a Harley card!
I kept the inside simple: trace the Harley logo onto white paper, frame it in orange and gray, and keep my note short, sweet, and to-the-point. I try to not get all mushy with my notes to Dad; he prefers something funny or lighthearted. I save the deep stuff for Mom! :)
I wanted the card to feel like Official Harley Davidson material so I printed out the logo on photo paper and slapped it on the back like it was branded. I hope he gets the idea!

Not only is my dad celebrating a birthday today, but so is one of my dearest students I've tutored since she was in the 6th grade--she's now a junior! She was in my very first class of students ever so I definitely have a special bond with her. I get to go to her house after school two days a week to help her with her homework (Chemistry is going to be a challenge this year--for me, not her! :-)). So much fun!!! This year, she's turning 16!! She's growing up which means I have to, too!

I really wanted to create drama (the good kind) with this card, I mean, it's her 16th birthday! I think this card really gives the impression of young and fun. I know she'll love these colors. What started it was the zebra lettering inside; then I had to decide which one color would go well with black and white and I knew pink was it for her!
Unfortunately, I didn't have enough zebra lettering (it came in a pack of jungle print) and I debated whether or not I should change the entire scheme to just jungle. But, then I found other pink square letters and knew I'd stick with my original idea. I added lots and lots of glitter to add to the drama!
I normally write in black on the back, so what I decided to do instead was cut out a strip of the same pink paper that I used elsewhere and include my signature there. I think it adds a small pop of fun. I love those polka dots, too!
