About Me

Michelle Azar
I'm a Christian, a wife, a daughter, a sister, a friend, and an unemployed teacher taking advantage of this extended vacation by improving my cooking, photography, and crafting skills (and blogs). My wonderful husband, Mario, says things like, "Don't forget to pack your knicks and knacks," and, "What are Q-tips called?" Some of my favorite things to do (other than cooking, photography, and crafting) are reading and watching John Cena movies! I hope you enjoy my blogs and thanks for stopping by!

Summertime Reflections

Being a teacher, I get the entire summer off. Now, many people think that teachers have it so easy...we get vacations at summer and major national holidays. Yes, that is a lot of vacation time when you consider the fact that we also get nights and weekends off. Wow, we are spoiled.

But, the real spoiling comes in the fact that we get to educate and work with students of all ages throughout the week. That's what drives us. It's not the paycheck. It's not the benefits, or even the vacations. We come to work each day because we know we can make a difference.

So, the reason for this posting? I want everyone to know that summertime is a time when teachers get to be with their families. We spend the entire year grading papers, creating assignments, making copies, and being mentor to hundreds of students whose parents entrust us with their education. Therefore, the summer is the uninterrupted flow of quality time with family.

I know I spend my summer planning for the coming year, coming up with ways I can improve lessons and new strategies I can incorporate into the upcoming year's plans. I don't ever stop thinking about my students and the classroom experience I can offer them.

All in all, I want everyone to know how hard teachers work to make kids' experiences in school exciting and memorable. There are lots of really bad teachers out there, but at the same time, there are countless more really amazing teachers. So, if you are lucky enough to receive an education from one of those amazing teachers, thank him or her and tell that teacher he or she is appreciated and deserves a restful and rejuvenating summer!

Blessings,
Michelle
